Greene County shares its east border with ‘Dunklin County’. Dunklin County is situated in ‘Bootheel’, the most southeastern portion of ‘Missouri State’ in the USA. ‘Kennett’ is the largest city as well as the County Seat of Dunklin County. This county was officially created on 14th February, 1845 and named after a former governor of the State of Missouri; ‘Daniel Dunklin’, who had passed away the year before this county was created. According to the reports of the U.S. Census Bureau, Dunklin County covers a total area of 1,417 square km., i.e. 547 square miles. Out of 547 square miles, 546 square miles is land and only 1 square mile is water. The neighboring counties that share their borders with Dunklin County are; Stoddard County, New Madrid County, Pemiscot County, Mississippi County, Craighead County, Clay County, Butler County and Greene County. Greene County is an adjacent county on south west side of Dunklin County.

The major highways that pass through Dunklin County are; US 62, US 412, AR 25, AR 53, AR 84, AR 153 and AR 164. There is a public use airport situated 1 mile southeast of downtown Kennett, called; ‘Kennett Memorial Airport’ which is owned by Kennett Municipal Corporation. Major cities and towns of Dunklin County are; Arbyrd, Clarkton, Holcomb, Kennett, Senath, Campbell, Gibson, Hollywood, Malden, White Oak, Cardwell, Gobler, Hornersville and Rives.

As per the records of US Census of the year 2006, the population of Dunklin County was 43,154 and the population density was 61 heads per square miles. The male – female ratio was; 89.60: 100. Of the people of age 25 and more, 63.7% possess high school education and 9.1% hold bachelor’s degree. There are 18 public schools, 2 private schools and 4 vocational schools. The foremost religion of Dunklin County is ‘Evangelical Protestantism’ and the county is one of the ‘Bible Belt’ counties.

‘Democratic Party’ is the ruling political party in Dunklin County. In the Missouri House of Representatives, the county is divided into 2 legislative districts and in the ‘U.S. House of Representatives’, ‘Jo Ann Emerson’ represents Dunklin County.
